Although Paris may be some thousand kilometres away, the spirit of said French capital can be found embodied in the elegant patisserie Chez Janet, where each customer is warmly welcomed to enjoy authentic French macarons, pastries, and savoury delicacies in a refined, beautifully pastel coloured interior.
Chez Janet was founded in 2019 by its lovely owners, Samia and Daman, following Samia’s wish to fulfil her late mother’s dream of establishing a French patisserie and cafe. Ever since, Chez Janet has made itself not only a prominent landmark in the nearby area and won their place in the hearts of locals, but it has been noted by the entirety of Helsinki and Finland; mentioned in publications, as well as by word of mouth. Everyone has their own story to tell related to Chez Janet; their own lovely memories made in the heart of said cute cafe, and in the past few years Chez Janet has become a meeting spot for several local lolitas, and many travel from further away to experience the magic of this patisserie. Lolita fashion enthusiasts are a more than welcome clientele at Chez Janet, and highly regarded by both Samia and Daman, and the patisserie itself looks like something from a sweet lolita’s dream.

Vaikka leivonnaiset ja tee ovat lähtöisin Pariisista asti, ne kuuluvat Helsingin kahviloiden edullisimpiin, joissa voit nauttia palan Pariisin taivaita rikkomatta pankkia.
Jos kuitenkin haluat shoppailla, Chez Janet täyttää tämänkin tarpeen! Chez Janet toimii konditorian ja teehuoneen lisäksi myös gourmet- ja lahjatavaroiden erikoisliikkeenä, jossa on laaja valikoima ranskalaisia ylellisiä teelaatuja sellaisilta tuotemerkeiltä kuin Mariage Frères ja Nina’s Paris sekä lukuisia herkkusuklaita, tuoksukynttilöitä, laukku- ja avaimenperiä sekä muita laadukkaita tuotteita. Jos haluat ottaa juomia tai leivonnaisia mukaan, sekin onnistuu, mutta suurin osa Chez Janetin viehätyksestä tulee siitä, kun istahtaa alas konditoriaan kupin teetä ja ihanan leivonnaisen äärelle ja nauttii itse kahvilan tunnelmasta.
Upon entering, you are greeted not only by attentive staff, but by the pastel splendour of the cafe, and atmospheric, cosy French music while taking in the big glass case displays of pastries, savoury baked goods, and macarons. Despite hailing all the way from Paris, the pastries and tea are among the more affordable ones in the Helsinki cafe scene, where you can enjoy a bit of Parisian heaven without breaking the bank.
Should you wish to go on a bit of a shopping splurge, however, this is no challenge either at Chez Janet! Apart from a patisserie and tea parlour, Chez Janet also doubles as a gourmet and gift speciality shop, boasting a wide collection of French luxury teas from brands such as Mariage Frères and Nina’s Paris, as well as gourmet chocolates, scented candles, bag charms and key chains, as well as other high quality items. Take away is also an option, be it beverages or pastries, but most of the charm in experiencing Chez Janet comes from sitting down at the patisserie for a cup of tea and lovely pastry, and enjoying the ambiance of the cafe itself.
Konditoriassamme onnistuvat myös pienemmät kokoontumiset, kunhan tilavaraus on tehty varattu ennakkoon. Tiloihimme mahtuu enintään 16–18 henkilöä – kesäaikaan ei kannata jättää käyttämättä tilaisuutta nauttia myymälän herkkuja ulkona koristeellisen pöydän ääressä. Koska konditoriassa on rajoitetusti istumapaikkoja, suosittelemme tekemään varauksen etukäteen Chez Janetin Instagram-sivun kautta. The establishment also provides a venue for smaller gatherings when booked in advance, seating a maximum of up to 16-18 people in its entirety – in summertime one most not miss the opportunity to enjoy the shop’s delicacies outside, seated by a decorative, dainty table. Since the patisserie has limited seating, we highly recommend that you make a reservation in advance through Chez Janet’s Instagram page, which includes more information regarding the matter, should you wish to show up with a bigger group of people. The patisserie is especially busy and popular on weekends, so a reservation is warmly recommended if you want to ensure a table.
